Helene Ruth Crawford, 99, of Menominee passed away Monday, May 20 at the Menominee Care Center.
The former Helene Gruenstern was born in Marion on March 30, 1914 to the late Edward and Bertha (Leverenz) Gruenstern. On Oct. 15, 1932 she married John S. Crawford in Daggett, Mi. and he preceded her in death on Sept. 4, 1978.
She was a devoted wife and mother and worked many years for Montgomery Ward Co. in Menominee as a catalog clerk. She was a faithful and lifelong member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Menominee. In her leisure time she enjoyed bowling, canning and playing cards.
Survivors include two daughters, Joanne Forsman of Pembrooke Pines, Fla. and Jane (Tom) Cady of Stephenson, Mi.; three sons, John, jr. (Ann) Crawford of Stephenson, Mi., Edward (Faye Ruleau) Crawford of Menominee and Robert (Carol Sundstrom) Crawford of Wallace, Mi.; a sister in law, Marion Gruenstern of Stephenson, Mi.; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Vieth; a sister, Gertrude Johnson and two brothers, Norman and Harold Gruenstern.
Family and friends may call at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Menominee on Wednesday May 29 after 12 noon until time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. Pastor Lee Goodwin will officiate and burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Anderson Kell Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
