Iver G. Johnson, 72, of Menominee passed away Wednesday, May 22 at Sun Valley Homes II in Marinette after suffering with dementia.
Born June 21, 1940 in Marinette to Carl G. and Edith Johnson, he spent his early life in Marinette and was a 1959 graduate of Marinette High School.
He married the former Joan Theall on March 30, 1963 and the couple recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. He was a 50-year member of the United Association of Journeymen with the Pipefitting Industry, working out of Local 111. He was a former member of the M & M Ice Boat Club and North Shore Golf Club. His interests included building and racing ice boats, winning many regattas and sailing, golfing and fly fishing.
His wife, Joan survives along with two daughters, Stacy (Mark) Myers of Marinette and Tammy (Shawn) Maedke of New Franken; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Gunnel Arnvist of Sweden; a brother, Carl (Carole) Johnson of Marinette and nieces, nephews and many other relatives in Sweden.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Edith Johnson; a brother, George and a sister, Ruth.
Private family services were held on Friday, May 24 at Hansen-Onion-Martell Funeral Home, Marinette with Rev. Craig Mansur officiating. Burial was in Forest Home Cemetery.
