Marilyn A. Thunes, 81, of Wauwatosa, formerly of Menominee, Green Bay and Keshena, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 2 in Wauwatosa.
Born March 19, 1932 in Menominee to Waito W. Waltonen and Bessie Holland Waltonen Schaperkotter, on Dec. 27, 1950 she married James Thunes in Menominee.
They had three children and in 1962 the family moved to the Green Bay area. She was a homemaker until returning to school to earn her Associate 's Degree in accounting. She worked at FMC in Green Bay as head of the Accounts Receivable Department until she and her husband retired to Legend Lake in Keshena. She was active in her church and had been a Lutheran Girl Pioneer 's leader. She enjoyed reading, camping, gardening, knitting, music, rosemaling and had a love of dogs.
Her husband, James survives, along with their three children, Kerry (Wayne) Binnington, Jerry D. (Joyce) Thunes and James W. (Kathy) Thunes; six grandchildren; a brother, Wally (Jewreen) Waltonen; three nieces, a nephew, 11 great-nieces and nephews and four great-grandnieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Arlene J. Waltonen.
Burial service will be held on Saturday, June 1 at 11 a.m. at Riverside Cemetery in Menominee.
