Alvin G. Williams, 85, of Marinette passed away on Wednesday, May 22 at Bay Area Medical Center, Marinette, surrounded by his family.
Born on Feb. 17, 1928 in Menominee to the late Alvin and Ethel (Barker) Williams, he served in the United States Navy during World War II.
On April 12, 1947 he married the former Luella Muma in Stephenson, Mi. and she preceded him in death on Aug. 23, 1988. On April 30, 1995 he married the former Elinor Renaud in Neenah. He worked as a welder at Marinette Marine, retiring in June of 1992. He enjoyed camping, being around the water and anything maritime. He was known to be quite the jokester and loved being with his family and dog. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW.
Survivors include his wife, Elinor of Marinette; children, Bonnie (Scott) Gay, Tom (Geri) Williams and Mary (John) Huffman, all of Menominee, Vicki Williams of Oak Creek and Mark (Lois) Williams of Lena; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; stepchildren, Cindy Johnson and Kim (Tina) Renaud, both of Peshtigo and Cheryl Grant of Marinette; six step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; a brother, Norman (Almeta) Williams of Marinette and a sister, Eleanore Hudson of Hinesville, Ga.
Along with his parents and first wife, Luella, he was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
Family and friends called at Anderson Diehm Funeral Home on Friday, May 24 after 3 p.m. until time of military rites at 5:30 p.m., followed by a parish prayer service. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, May 25 at 9:30 a.m. at Precious Blood Catholic Church with Fr. Corey Litzner officiating. Burial was in Stephenson Township Cemetery.
