THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Ellen R. Jensen, 105, of Mountain passed away on Tuesday, June 4.
Born in Galisburg to the late Walter and Edith (Short) Keesler on June 2, 1908, the family moved to Lakewood where she grew up on a farm. She attended school there and attended Oconto Falls High School. On Jan. 11, 1927 she married Elof Jensen and they lived and raised their family in Mountain.
A peoples person, if you met her once you were her friend. Her interests included sewing and all textile arts, bird watching, traveling, card playing and cooking. She was best known as the cook from Mountain School and a woman of strong faith, who raised her family to lean on Jesus.
She is survived by a son, Leon (Val) Jensen of Green Bay; two daughters, Janet Reed of Mountain and Rita Cannella of Texas; sisters-in-law, Josephine Jensen and Ruth Keesler; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elof Jensen; two sons, Daniel and Walter Jensen; three grandchildren, Michael Cannella, Amy Jensen and Robin Reed; two sons-in-law, Benjamin Cannella and Joseph Reed; a daughter-in-law, Jane Jensen and three brothers, Levi, Lyoyd and Clifford Keesler.
Gathering of family and fiends will be held at Tabor Lutheran Church in Mountain on Saturday, June 8 from 9 a.m. until the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Paul Scheunemann officiating. Interment will be in Mountain Cemetery next to her husband. Gruetzmacher Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
