County Board Will Act On 911 Upgrade, Appointments
Issue Date: June 19, 2013
Upgrade of the 911 system in the sheriff department, two appointments, funding of Highway Department deficits and honoring Crivitz High School state pole vault champion will be among items of business when the Marinette County Board meets Tuesday, June 25, starting at 9 a.m.
The Law Enforcement Committee is seeking approval of an agreement to upgrade the 911 phone system at a cost of $146,393.03 with CenturyLink and also to improve inmate telephone services on a five year contract with Inmate Calling Solutions LLC.
Appointments to be acted on are Mary Lock of Peshtigo to the Marinette County Consolidated Library Board for a term expiring Dec. 31, 2015, Connie Clayton to the Civil Service Commission for a term expiring Dec. 31, 2016, and Kirsten Bellisle as interim communications director with no term limitation.
The Personnel Committee is recommending elimination of one position and creating two additional positions in the Department of Health and Human Services Department (HHS). Eliminated would be a financial account clerk and created would be a customer service screener and economic support worker.
HHS is making the requests because Marinette County is seeking to have 35 hour per week employees be raised to 40 hours per week. As a result work is being covered by clerks who are now working the extra five hours weekly.
The Finance Committee is recommending funding be approved for Highway Department deficits of $762,700. The deficits are $444,000 for construction, $153,700 for 2013 to date snow removal, $100,000 for County Road B tree removal and utility adjustments and $65,000 for drainage improvements for County Road W/Parkway Road intersection. The deficit funding would come from the unassigned general fund balance.
Action will also be taken on a proclamation honoring three time state pole vault champion Jake Wiedemeier of Crivitz High School. As a senior he won his third straight title with a pole vault of 14-feet. He became the fourth M-O Conference athlete to win three straight titles.
Other agenda items include:
* Report of Marinette County Association of Business & Industry on regionalization of Community Development Block Grants.
* Quarterly report of Dean Paula Langteau UW-Marinette,
* Introduction of Jennifer Sequin as administrative secretary.
* Discussion on opinion of Corporation Counsel that changing and interpreting rules would require suspension by a two-thirds votes of supervisors present on a roll call vote.
