Francis H. Duquaine
A well known Marinette County businessman, Francis Hubert Duquaine, 87, of Peshtigo passed away on Wednesday, July 3 at Bellin Hospital in Green Bay.
Born on July 22, 1925, he was the son of the late Frank and Mary (Kennedy) Duquaine.
He was drafted into the United States Navy in September of 1943 and served in the Pacific during World War II until June 1, 1946. In 1947, after returning from service, he operated Duquaine's Super Market in Crivitz. On Nov. 5, 1949 he married the former Helen Janik at St. Victor's Catholic Church in Calumet City, Ill. In 1973 he moved to Peshtigo and opened and operated Duquaines Super Market until his retirement in 1986. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Peshtigo and the American Legion in Crivitz.
He is survived by his wife, Helen; three sons, Tim (Marcia) Duquaine of De Pere, Michael Duquaine of Peshtigo and Steve (Karen) Duquaine of Belgium; a daughter, Marilyn Duquaine of De Pere; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Kathleen (Gene) Walters and Monica (George) Morin; a sister-in-law, Polly Duquaine and mother-in-law, Angeline Janik.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Donald and Dan; and two sisters, infant, Lorretta and Mary Ellen.
Visitation was held on Monday, July 8 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Peshtigo from 9 a.m. until time of the Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. with Fr. Richard Allen officiating. Burial was in St. Mary Cemetery in Crivitz at 2 p.m. with full military rites. Berth & Rosenthal Funeral Home, Peshtigo assisted the family with arrangements. Donations may be made to the St. Mary Window Fund or St. Vincent DePaul.
