Frances M. Mouritsen, 90, of Menominee passed away Thursday, July 11.
Born on Oct. 4, 1922 in Marinette to the late Rasmus and Marie (Madsen) Scheldt, she attended Marinette Public Schools. On May 31, 1947 she married Ervin J. Mouritsen in Marinette and he preceded her in death on Jan. 11, 2005.
She worked at the Menominee Glove Factory and later in life was employed by the Menominee Public School Food Service for 12 years at Roosevelt Elementary School. A homemaker, she especially enjoyed baking and cooking. She also enjoyed watching The Price is Right, Wheel of Fortune and the Packer games on television. She loved animals, getting mail from her church and great-grandchildren, going for car rides and having ice cream from the Dairy Queen. She belonged to the Order of Eastern Star and was an early member of the AMVET Auxiliary. She was a faithful, longtime member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Marilyn Mouritsen of Menominee and Elaine (Raymond) Shrode of Menomonee Falls; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and twin nephews and their families.
Along with her parents and her husband, Ervin, she was preceded in death by a sister, Marian (Harold) Rice and her best friend, Mae Johnson.
There was no visitation. In accordance with her wishes a private funeral service was held Sunday, July 14 at Hansen-Onion-Martell Funeral Home in Marinette. Rev. Lee Goodwin officiated and burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Menominee. A memorial fund has been established.
