THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Doris (Bach) Salzman, 89, passed away Monday, July 29 at her home in rural Peshtigo.
Born on Nov. 25, 1923 to the late Victor and Hedwig (Wickman) Bach in the Town of Wagner, she graduated from Marinette High School and Marinette County Normal Teachers College. She taught in rural schools for several years.
She married Robert Salzman at Porterfield Lutheran Church on Aug. 17, 1946 and retired from teaching in 1958 to raise her family. Over the years she enjoyed family, homemaking, camping, cards with friends, reading and doing puzzles. She also did custom sewing and alterations from her home.
She is survived by her husband, Robert; three children, Linda (Don) Hays, Kenneth (Mary) and Ronald (Keyan); two grandchildren; four step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren; a brother, Clarence Bach of Marinette; a sister and brother-in-law Jane and Frank Zuern of Oshkosh; a brother-in-law Harold Salzman of Marinette; a sister-in-law, Jean Salzman of Iowa and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles (Dorothy) Bach, Robert Bach, and John Bach; a brother-in-law Clarence Salzman; and two sisters-in-law Betty Bach and Amie Salzman.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of funeral services at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 1, at Porterfield Lutheran Church. Pastor Chad Anderson will officiate and burial will be in Glenwood Memorial Gardens. Hansen-Onion-Martell Funeral Home, Marinette is serving the family.
