Dennis C. Davis, Sr., 74, of Marinette, passed away Saturday, Aug. 24th at the Luther Home.
Born July 3, 1939 in Marinette to D. George Davis and Bernice (Therriault) Davis, he graduated from Marinette High School, Class of 1958, enlisted in the United States Navy in 1958, and served until 1962. He returned to Marinette and married the former Betty M. Wittkopf of Oconto on Feb. 23, 1963 and worked at Ansul Company for 39 years, retiring in 2001.
He was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Marinette and was an avid Packer and Brewer fan, enjoyed camping, meeting friends at the casino and watching his grandsons participate in sporting events.
He is survived by three children, Denise (Jeff) Sunstrom, Dennis (Brenda) Davis, jr. and Becky Davis, all of Marinette; four grandchildren; two sisters, Theckla Tec (Roger) Reible and Mary Woods and two brothers-in-law, Al Marquardt and Marvin (Miriam) Wittkopf.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty, on Oct. 11, 2009; three brothers, Terry, Donald and Timothy and a sister, Valeria Fuzzy Marquardt.
Friends may call at Hansen-Onion-Martell funeral home in Marinette from 4 p.m to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 28th. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 29th at Our Saviors Lutheran Church. The Rev. James Wendt will officiate and Interment will be in Glenwood Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. A memorial fund has been established for his grandchildrens education.
