Race To Victories At Norway
The second to last week of racing at Norway Speedway was presented by R&R Tire, Iron Mountain Power Sports, and Kingsford Dairy Queen. Earning the checkered flag were Dalton Zehr for the Coca-Cola Late Model Feature victory, Time Schultz second Super Stock Feature, and Cody Skog the DQ-Dog Feature.
An excellent battle developed during the Coca-Cola Late Model Feature as Dan Lindsley and Craig Schei both raced up from back in the field to the top five within four laps of competition. Lindsley and Schei drove through the field and battled high and low as the laps clicked away, chasing Zehr had who passed them both capturing the lead on lap 26. Zehr held the upper hand and opened up a comfortable lead winning his seventh feature of the season clinching the 2013 Coca-Cola Late Model championship. Craig Schei won the battle for second over Lindsley grabbing his best finish of the season.
Final results were #99 Dalton Zehr, #44 Craig Schei, #79 Dan Lindsley. Norway Speedway congratulates Zehr and the Race Tech Chassis Team for their first Speedway Championship.
Tim Schultz battled door to door with John Mattia, jr. coming to the green for the Auto Value Super Stock A feature, leading flag to flag for his second feature of the season. Tanner Kelly went into the race with a point lead over Brett Bray for the championship. Bray used the outside to race around Kelly, then after a restart choose the inside and held on as for the checkered flag. Results were #5 Tim Schultz, #6 Brett Bray, #77 Tanner Kelly, #46 John Mattia and #103 Bryce Cuggino.
The DQ-Dog A feature saw Austin Stanchina bust out to the early lead, but it was only a matter of time until Dan Carne sliced his way through the field taking to go ahead. Shortly after Cody Skog nosed his way underneath, Carne to wrestling the lead away, lost ground to Skog, only to run him down with a last lap pass attempt that came up short. Results were #28 Cody Skog, #48 Dan Carne and #55 Trevor Cronick.
Fast Qualifiers for the evening were Coca-Cola Late Models - Dalton Zehr 14.767 an average speed of 81.261; Auto Value Super Stocks - Mark Jenshak 16.264 an average speed of 73.782; DQ-Dog Four Cylinders - Cody Skog 18.461 an average speed of 65.001 mph.
The Dickinson County Fair Presents the Labor Day 100 Sunday at 6pm as the Norway Speedway ends its season and crowns its champions.
