Coleman Captures Tourney Honors

Goes 4-0 At 5-Team Event

Posting a perfect 4-0 readout, the Coleman Cougars claimed top honors at the 5-team Oconto Tournament Tuesday. Shiocton finished in second place at 3-1, Oconto and Peshtigo were 2-2 each and Valders 1-3.

A trio of of Cougars played big roles as Abby Bieber collected 27 kills, Lindsey Kerr 41 assists and Lilly Cornelius 14 blocks.

Host Oconto, which finished third at the meet, saw Laken James tally 26 kills and Emily Shallow 57 assists.

Peshtigo finished 2-2 at the meet losing to Valders in the first round 25-18, 13-25 and 10-15; beating Shiocton 25-20, 16-25 and 15-13; topping Oconto 25-12 and 25-12 before losing to champion Coleman 18-25 and 13-25.

Carly Dietrich collected 17 kills and 17 digs to lead Peshtigo, Teja Tonn 13 kills and 17 digs, Nicole Motkowski 10 kills and 22 digs, Taylor Sodini 5 kills, 4 assists and 5 digs; Maizie Reif 4 kills and 23 digs, Jaden Russell 3 aces and 4 digs while Kelsey Enderby added 6 kills.

Pembine Wins

Crivitz Meet

Putting together a 10-2 mark, the Pembine Panthers earned the title at the 5-team Crivitz Invitational Tuesday. Three Lakes was second at 8-4 followed by Crandon 6-6, Wabeno 4-8 and Crivitz 2-10.

Crivitz fell 22-11, 25-20 and 15-7 to Pembine; went 1-2 against Crandon 25-20, 25-27 and 4-15; swept by Three Lakes 25-21, 25-16 and 16-14 before earning one win against Wabeno 21-25, 25-23 and 8-15.

Vicki Neumann collected 17 kills and 11 digs for Crivitz, Payton Kaldenberg 12 kills and 3 aces, Samara Olson 9 kills and 7 digs, Jen Kempka 39 assists, 5 aces and 7 digs; Rachel Nelson 10 digs, Courtney Kaldenberg 6 kills, Tayler Gazella 4 digs and 2 aces while Kennedy Nelsen added 3 digs and 2 aces.

Menominee Sweeps

Cavalette Netters

Menominee proved to be too much for the Cavalettes Tuesday registering a 25-12, 25-5 and 25-15 sweep. Brooke Janquart tallied 17 points, Maddy Anderla 14 and Allia Stewart 13 for the winners.

Linsey Hannon collected 10 digs and one spike kill for STAA, Riley Schultz 4 spikes and 5 digs, Alyssa Hornick 3 spikes and 7 assists, Molly Linczeski 5 digs while Gracyn Myers, Jacqueline Sporie and Sarah Porras added 3 digs each.

Menominee is very good and play well together. We have work to do, but I liked what I saw from the freshmen that played varsity, STAA coach Julie Chilcote said.

Menominee also swept the jayvee match 25-10, 25-15 and 25-18.

Badgers Earn Split

To Start Net Play

The Niagara Badgers split its season opener Tuesday, besting Norway 25-17, 25-18 and 16-14 while losing to Kingsford 22-25, 22-25 and 15-10.

Brooklyn Wolosyn sparked Niagara with 24 kills, including 17 spikes; Myah Anderson 10 kills, Shanana Nordell 11 kills and 6 digs, Kate Nawn 8 kills and 5 aces, Shelby Borchardt 37 digs and 5 spikes, Abbey Basnieschi 42 assists and 7 aces, Mackenzie Gregg 6 spike kills.

In the jayvee matches, Niagara lost to Norway 25-23 and 25-19 as well as Kingsford 25-17 and 28-26.
