28,000 Attend Marinette County Fair Aug. 22 - 25

Attendance was up at the 2013 Marinette County Fair which ran from Aug. 22-25 at the Fairgrounds in Wausaukee, according to Lisa Witak of the Fair Committee. Attendance this year was estimated at 28,000, almost 5,000 more than the 2012 fair. Sundays attendance was down which was attributed to the extreme heat. Destiny LaPlant was crowned queen on Thursday by the 2012 Queen Teia Lea.
Events began Thursday with carnival rides and shows by Nicks Kids Show and the farm tractor pull at the Grandstand.
On Friday among activities were rabbit, swine and beef judging, In Capable Hands and Daze 2 Nights performances and lawnmower pull.
Among Saturdays events included dairy and goat judging, In Capable Hands, Daze 2 Nights and Star Six Nine performances, horse speed show, demolition derby, and supermodified truck and tractor pull.
On Sunday, Aug. 25, the final day of the fair were horse fun day, kiddie pedal tractor pull, Nicks Kid Show, demolition derby and trophies awarded.
