Sylvia M. Christensen, 89, formerly of Lena, passed away on Sunday, Sept 1st at Meadow Lands in Oconto Falls.
Born on Jan. 11, 1924 in Cooks County, Mi., to the late Martin and Rose (Boehm) Smits, she married Quentin Squint Christensen on Dec. 9, 1944 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spruce and he preceded her in death on May 7, 1988.
She is survived by four children, Leroy (Jerilyn) Christensen of Maribel, Edward (Linda) Christensen of Pound, Wesley (special friend Paula Reed) of Wausau and June (Ronnie) Kruse of Lena; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren with another expected soon; two brothers, Martin Smits of Gillett and George (Doris) Smits of Green Bay; a sister AnnaMae Blazer of Maribel, a sister-in-law, Gertie Christensen of Green Bay; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Besides her husband, Quentin, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kelly Christensen; two infant siblings, Agnes and John Smits; a brother Norbert (Harriet) Smits; two sisters, Stella (Ervin Charlie) Heaney and Isabel (Ellis) McMahon; a sister-in-law, Alice Smits and a brother-in-law, Robert Blazer.
Friends May call at St. Anne Catholic Church in Lena on Thursday, Sept. 5th at 9 a.m. until time of Mass Of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with Father Celestine Byekwaso officiating. Burial will be at Hickory Cemetery in Hickory. Rhodes Charapata Funeral Home of Lena is assisting the family.
