Robert Warren Combes
Robert Warren Combes, 85, of Marinette, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 28th.
Born on Oct.1, 1927 in Marinette to Leander and Minnie (Anderson) Combes, he graduated from Marinette High School Class of 1945 and served in the United States Army from 1945 to 1948 stationed in the Philippines.
He was employed by Scott Paper Co. from 1951 to 1993 and on Jan. 12, 1952, married the former Jean Schewe at First Trinity Lutheran Church by Pastor Frank Zaiser. A member of First Trinity Lutheran Church, he was a tennis champ his senior year, bowled for Scott Paper Co and First Trinity Lutheran Church, a member of American Legion Post 39, an avid Green Bay Packer fan, enjoyed traveling and spending time with his children and grandchildren and watching his grandchildrens sporting events.
He is survived by his wife, Jean; his children, Leah (John) Zorn, Nina Strokos, and Karen (Jeff) Reinhard; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Combes; his parents, Leander and Minnie (Anderson) Combes; three brothers, Perry, Everett and Norman and five sisters, Evelyn, Anita, Virginia, Harriet and Ramona.
Friends called at First Trinity Lutheran Church, Wells St. at Grant in Marinette after 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 31st. with funeral services at 2 p.m. Rev. Fred Stubenvoll officiated with burial in Forest Home Cemetery. Hansen-Onion-Martell Funeral Home served the family.
