RON PELTIER, 78, of Menominee, passed away at home on Thursday, Aug. 29th.
Born on June 29, 1935 to the late James and Edna (McEwing) Peltier in Kingsford, Mi., he graduated from Alpha High School in Alpha, Mi. in 1953 and attended Northern Michigan University, Michigan State University and received his Master 's Degree from Eastern Michigan University. He was a Veteran and spent two years in the United States Army stationed in Europe.
He was a classroom teacher for 10 years in the Dearborn and Niles School Districts and 27 years as Superintendent at the Menominee County Intermediate School District. A longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Menominee, past secretary of Menominee Jaycees, past president and secretary of Menominee Kiwanis Club, director of the Upper Peninsula Special Olympics and first President of the Big Brother Organization of Menominee. He also organized and attended Camp Pemene and Winterfest, was a camp counselor, swim instructor and director at Camp Batawagama in Iron County, Mi.
He enjoyed singing in the church choir and Menominee County Choir, was an accomplished guitarist, loved to sing Folk music, enjoyed fishing, hunting and woodworking. He was a dedicated father and beloved grandpa.
He is survived by two sons, Scott (Margaret) of Whitmore Lake, Mi. and Mark of Traverse City, Mi; a daughter, Katie (Dabian) Peterson of Manitowoc, three grandchildren; a brother, Darrill; a sister in law, Janice of Green Bay; a niece and nephew and special friends, John and Maggie Lindholm.
Family will receive friends on Saturday Sept. 7th at the First United Methodist Church, Menominee, after 9 a.m. until time of Memorial Service at 11 a.m. with Reverend Dale Brown officiating. A luncheon will follow at the church. Anderson Kell Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Lombardi Cancer Center Clinic at the Aurora Clinic in Marinette.
