THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Norbert Len Singer, 83, of Peshtigo, passed away Aug. 31st at Rennes Health Center-East.
Born on Feb. 17, 1930, the son of the late Ceddie and Isabella (Brabender) Singer, he married the former Mary Harris in Menominee on Sept. 22, 1950, he served in the United States Marines from 1951 to 1952 and received the Korean Service Medal and Purple Heart Medal. A lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, he was employed at the Peshtigo Post Office and was Postmaster at Keshena, retiring as Postmaster for the Porterfield Post Office.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; two sons, Stephen (Lois ) Singer of Marinette and Matthew (Sandra) Singer of Darlington; four daughters, Arlene (Richard) Carlson of Peshtigo, Barbara (Mark) Konyn of Marinette, Debra (Randall) Smith of Menominee and Kathleen (Mike Seewald) Singer-King of Pound; 15 grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents, Ceddie and Isabella, he was preceded in death by a sister, Gloria Jopek and a grandson, Adam Carlson.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, Sept. 4th at Faith Baptist Church in Peshtigo from 10 a.m. until time of service at 12 noon, followed by military rites performed by the United States Marine Corps at Riverside Cemetery in Peshtigo. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to M.D.A. Berth & Rosenthal Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
