Margaret I. Behrendt
Margaret I. Behrendt, 97, passed away Sunday, Sept. 15, at Rennes Health Center East in Peshtigo.
Born in Menominee Oct. 30, 1915, to Albert and Jessie Seidl, she attended Washington School in Menominee, and graduated from Menominee High School in 1933. She married Norman Behrendt on Jan. 17, 1940, and they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in June of 1990. Her husband preceded her in death on Nov. 12, 1990.
A member of First United Methodist Church of Marinette, she served on numerous committees, was president of the Marinette Womans Club, sang in the choir and was a former president of Garfield PTA. She worked for the Marinette Red Cross Bloodmobile for 36 years.
She is survived by two daughters, Bonnie (Skip) Bohse, of Oregon, Wis. and Joni Behrendt, of Carlisle, Pa.; five sons, Jeff (Nancy), Greg (Jean) and Brad (Ellen), all of Marinette, Perry (Minerva), of Menominee and Nick (Leslie), of Grand Rapids, Mich., nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild, many nieces, nephews and a sister-in-law, Agnes Behrendt.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen and Jeanne; a brother, Dr. Roger Seidl and sister-in-law, Mary Ann Seidl.
Friends called after 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 18, at First United Methodist Church in Marinette followed by funeral services at 1 p.m. in the church with Rev. Kevin Dembinski officiating. Hansen-Onion-Martell Funeral Home served the family. Gifts may be sent to the Marinette Rescue Squad, Red Cross or the United Methodist Womans Group.
