Phyllis Mae Olson, 79, passed away unexpectedly at her home in Las Vegas, NV on Sunday, Sept. 8.
Born in Monroe, MI, on Sept. 28, 1933, to George and Marie Maass, she was raised on the family farm. She followed in her mother's footsteps and became a teacher. As a science teacher, in Michigan and Wisconsin she was loved and respected by many students and colleagues.
She ended up making roots in Wisconsin and lived a major portion of her life in Middleton after coming with her dear friend, Betty, to a true Wisconsin wedding. This is where she met her future husband, Marvin Olson, whom she courted for some time before agreeing to marry him and move.
The couple spent many happy years together and when her husband died in 1990, she moved to Las Vegas, NV. She enjoyed friends, bingo and visits from family.
Survivors include a son and daughter in law, Robert and Corrine (Cookie) Olson, Lena; two grandchildren; one great granddaughter; cousins, many special friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Olson; parents, George and Marie Maass; close cousin, Ernest Ooley; and close friend, Carolyn Organ.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life on what would have been her 80th birthday, Sept. 28 from 1 to 3 pm at Palm Mortuary in Las Vegas, NV. Committal services will take place in Wisconsin at a time and date to be determined.
