THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Diane (Chitko) Rochon
Diane (Chitko) Rochon, 57, of Goodman, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 18, at Unity Hospice in De Pere following a courageous 13 year battle with M.S.
Born April 1, 1956 in Laona, daughter of the late Stanley and Mary (Pisczor) Chitko, she graduated from Goodman-Armstrong Creek High School in 1974 and obtained a Bachelors Degree in Education from the UW-Oshkosh. She was employed by the Goodman Armstrong Creek School District for 24 years as a music teacher and band director, retiring in 2002.
She was a talented musician and played several instruments. Her fall concerts were always well attended and enjoyed by the community. A member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church, she enjoyed attending concerts at performing arts centers, playing cribbage, puzzles, baking, crafts, the outdoors, bird watching and tending to flowers. Most of all, she loved being a grandma.
She is survived by a daughter, Nicole (Jason) Briesemeister of De Pere; a granddaughter; four siblings, Barb (Quinn) Vanden Heuvel of Appleton, Robert (Catherine) Chitko, Stanley jr. (Kathy) Chitko and twin Dennis Chitko, all of Armstrong Creek and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a niece, Kara Chitko.
Visitation was held from 3 p.m. until time of prayer service at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 22, at the Armstrong Creek Community Center with Deacon Jerry Cross officiating. Visitation continued on Monday, Sept. 23, from 9 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church in Armstrong Creek. Msgr. Paul Koszarek officiated at the Mass of Christian Burial, with burial in Pine Hill Cemetery in Armstrong Creek. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in her memory. Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain assisted the family with funeral arrangements.
