Fire Memorial at Museum Oct. 8
On Tuesday evening, Oct. 8th at 7 p.m. the Peshtigo Historical Society will host its annual candlelight vigil on the steps of the Peshtigo Fire Museum to commemorate the 142nd anniversary of the Peshtigo Fire of 1871. The solemn remembrance will include tolling of the bell by society historian Robert Couvillion and singing of hymns and patriotic songs led by Kay Waddingham and a chorus composed of volunteers from the community. There will also be brief remarks about the fire from Historical Society members. In case of inclement weather, the memorial will be canceled.
