THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Brazeau Emergency Services Open House is on Oct. 8th
Brazeau Emergency Services will hold an open house for residents of the Town of Brazeau and parts of the Towns of Bagley and Beaver in their service area. The open house is Tuesday, Oct. 8 from 6 to 9 pm at the Brazeau Fire Station, located at the corner of Parkway Road and County Z.
The open house is held during National Fire Prevention Week, held annually the first full week of October. During the week fire departments educate residents on the importance of having a fire safety plan in place and to change their smoke alarm batteries. Most house fires happen during the winter when everyone has their heating systems operating and during the night. Many homes are still heated with wood burning systems, and are the major cause of house fires.
There will be demonstrations of the vehicles and equipment of the fire department, ambulance service and dive team. The City of Oconto's smoke trailer will teach about home fires. There will be lessons on how to escape from a house fire and practice having a mutual place for everyone to meet, in the event of a house fire. Other events will be a visit with Smokey Bear. A lunch will be served, along with cupcakes.
Brazeau Emergency Services will give away two bicycles, first-aid kits, smoke alarms, life jackets ando there will be handouts for the kids. All of the events are free for residents in the Brazeau Emergency Services service area.
