Collecting a trio of wins this past week, the Coleman Cougars improved their M-O Conference volleyball readout to a lucky 13-0 after besting Lena and Gillett in a triangular Thursday before leveling Lena again Tuesday.

Going after their second straight M-O crown, the Cougars have three matches remaining...October 10 hosting Wausaukee, bye on October 15 before heading to Crivitz for a October 17 triangular.

Digs upon digs upon digs.

Between five players, the Peshtigo netters tallied 166 digs Thursday in Niagara as they defeated the Badgers 25-13, 22-25, 25-23, 25-23 and then took down Crivitz in three games 25-14, 25-18, 25-8.

"It was another barn-burner with Niagara," said Peshtigo head coach Lynn Tonn-Kostreva. "We were behind 10-19 in game three before digging deep and pulling out the victory."

Leading the way for the Bulldogs was Teja Tonn, who finished the evening with two aces, 17 kills, four blocks and 23 digs; Nicole Motkowski served up three aces, had eight kills, six blocks, 20 assists and 25 digs; Amy Courtois had 26 digs; Maizie Reif had 42 digs, eight kills and four aces; Taylor Sodini had two aces, seven kills, 24 assists and 13 digs while Carly Dietrich finished with 37 digs, an assist and 11 kills.

-Tuesday’s Results-

Cougar Dominance

Continues In M-O

The Coleman netters aren 't getting any easier for other M-O teams to compete with as the season moves along. Coleman exercised further control of the conference Tuesday night, taking care of the visiting Lena Wildcats 25-6, 25-16, 25-8.

Makenzie Sadowski finished the contest with three aces, five kills, three blocks, two assists and a dig for the victorious Cougars; Lindsey Kerr had four aces, two kills, a block, 18 assists and 10 digs to go along with teammate Lily Cornelius ' four kills, three blocks and a dig.

Lena was led by Melissa Bushmaker 's three kills, one block and an assist.

Bulldogs Go 4 Games

To Bounce Cavalettes

Peshtigo survived a brief scare on their home court Tuesday as STAA came to town and took a game. But the Bulldogs rebounded after dropping the second game of the match and came out on top by a final tally of 25-13, 22-25, 25-16, 25-11.

"The 'second-game curse ' gets us way too often," said Peshtigo head coach Lynn Tonn-Kostreva. "Although, I think we may have underestimated STAA 's scrappiness! They dug up a lot of nice hits."

Riley Schultz and Linsey Hannon each had nine digs to lead STAA in that category. Hannon added a kill and three aces, Schultz also had seven kills and two blocks.

For the winning Bulldogs, Nicole Motkowski had a pair of aces, six kills, two blocks, 18 assists and 10 digs; Teja Tonn had an ace, five kills, two blocks and seven digs; Maizie Reif had four aces, two kills, an assist and 17 digs while Carly Dietrich turned in nine kills to lead all players as well as 22 digs, also a match high.

Tournament play starts in two weeks, added Tonn-Kostreva. We have a few things to work out.

The winning Tigers were led by Brianna Lemirande 's 12 kills, three blocks, nine digs and two aces; Jessica Anderson had four kills, 21 assists, five digs and two aces to go along with Melissa Sherman 's four kills, 11 digs and three aces.
