THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Mary Goltz, 92, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 13 at Rennes Health Center East.
Born July 24, 1921 to the late Michael and Sophia Chepeck, she grew up in Marinette and was a graduate of Marinette High School Class of 1939. On Jan. 20, 1940, she married the love of her life, Stanley Goltz. They had 48 years of married life together until he passed away Nov. 16, 1988.
She was mostly a stay at home mother for most of her years. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, canning, playing cards, pinochle, polka dancing, music, but mostly spending time with her family and watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of St. Marys Church.
She is survived by her four daughters, Jane Garrigan, Pat Reif, Carol VanBeek and Lou (James) Nesberg, all of Peshtigo; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She will be forever loved and missed by her family.
Besides her husband, Stanley, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Walter, Leo, Bill and Peter Chepeck; two sisters, Sophia Camps and Helen Madtson and a son-in-law, Gary Garrigan.
Family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until time of Memorial Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Marys Catholic Church in Peshtigo on Friday, Oct. 18. Rev. Father Ralph Merkatoris will officiate with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Peshtigo.
