Barbara J. Kranz, 79, of Quinnesec, Mi., died Saturday, Oct. 12 at home surrounded by her family.
Born Oct. 30, 1933, in Kingsford, Mi., daughter of the late Leo and Jeanette (Winning) Lange, she was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of Kingsford High School Class of 1951. She married Gary Kranz on Jan. 5, 1952, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Kingsford. In her younger years she was an operator for Michigan Bell Telephone, Co.
An active member of First Lutheran Church, Iron Mountain, she was a Sunday school teacher and worked on the altar guild society. A former member of Our Redeemer Lutheran, Kingsford, she also taught Sunday school there and worked on the altar guild.
She enjoyed many hobbies including knitting, crocheting, painting and bird watching. She was an avid reader and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Gary; three sons, Fraser Kranz, Goodman, Aaron (Brenda) Kranz, Breitung Township and Kyle (Dawn) Kranz, Kingsford; four grandchildren and two step grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Kleiber; two grandchildren, Dana Kranz and Travis Kranz and a daughter-in- law, Cecilia Kranz.
In accordance with her wishes, private family visitation and services will be held. Rev. James Lindgren will officiate with burial in Breitung Township Cemetery, Quinnesec. Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain is assisting the family.
