THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Pearl Kunick, 96, died Saturday, Oct. 12.
Born Nov. 14, 1916 to the late Arthur and Rose (Smith) Thurow, she married Walter Kunick Nov. 14, 1939 in Marinette. He preceded her in death on Nov. 19, 1965. The couple owned the Kunick Grocery Store for many years and she was also a cook at Schloegels and the Luther Home.
She is survived by four children, Joyce (David) Collier, Ruth Lindsay, Russell (Chris) Kunick and W. Craig (Debra) Kunick; two sisters, Evelyn Story and Doris Seefeldt; a brother, Arthur (Joan) Thurow, Jr.; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter; great-granddaughter, Amanda Whitton; son-in-law, Mike Lindsay and sisters, Verona Prestine Meunier and Beatrice Russell Schufeldt.
Friends called at Peace United Church of Christ, Marinette, from noon until time of funeral services at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 16, with the Rev. William Clyma officiating.
Hansen-Onion-Martell funeral home assisted the family.
