Ione L. Peters, 86, Green Bay, formerly of Popple River, Laona and Crandon, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 16 at the Golden Living Nursing Home surrounded by family and friends.
Born in Angelica, Oct. 25, 1926 to Harold and Irene (Vaness) Wilson, she married Clarence Peters on Jan. 27, 1945 at St. Leonard Catholic Church in Laona. He preceded her in death Oct. 7, 1984.
She was employed by the U.S. Forest Service in Laona for 13 years and enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, spending time with her family and grandchildren and sitting in her lawn swing people watching.
She is survived by three daughters, Darlene Vanden Bush and Barbara Sikowski, both of Green Bay and Diane Groh (special friend, Bruce), of Plains, Mont.; five sons, Calvin (Jeanie) Peters, of Popple River, Duane (Carol) Peters, of Montrose, Co., Melvin (JoAnn) Peters, of Oconto Falls, Rick (Mary) Peters, of Argonne and Clayton Peters, of Delta, Co.; 32 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty (Wesley) Sosinske, of Oconto; a brother, John Wilson, of Gillett and other family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence; an infant son, Clarence B. Peters, Jr.; a granddaughter, April Lincoln; an infant sister and brothers, Lloyd and Alvie Wilson.
Visitation was held on Sunday, Oct. 20 from 4 p.m. until time of Prayer service at 7 p.m. at the Weber-Hill Funeral Home, Crandon. Visitation continued Monday, Oct. 21 at St. Leonard Catholic Church, Laona from 10 a.m. until time of Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Interment was in the Forest Home Cemetery, Newald. Weber-Hill Funeral Home assisted the family. Memorials are appreciated to the Cerebral Palsy Center, 2801 S Webster Ave, Green Bay, WI 54301 in memory of her granddaughter.
