Betty J. Schintgen, 88, of Niagara, passed away Sunday, Oct. 20 at the Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls, Mich.
Born April 18, 1925, in Kingsford, daughter of the late Lloyd and Irene (Carefell) Martin, she married William E. Schintgen and they owned and operated Shanks Bar in Niagara for many years.
An active member of St. Margaret Catholic Church in Pembine, she enjoyed gardening, fishing, crossword puzzles and especially going out dancing with her husband.
She is survived by her husband, William; three sons, Robert (Pat) Magray, Oneida, Raymond Magray, Old Mill Creek, Ill. and William (Cindy) Magray, Green Bay; a daughter, Betty (Terry) Moriarity, Niagara; a step-son, Bill (Janet) Schintgen, Niagara; three step-daughters, Pat Rouse (Doug Payette), Niagara, Ann (Jim) Bumford, New Franken and Evans Schintgen, Rohnert Park, Ca.; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Vernon Magray; a step-son, Jim Schintgen; a sister, Frances Koller and three brothers, Leonard Martin, Raymond Martin and Robert Martin.
Visitation and Funeral Mass were held Saturday, Oct. 26 at St. Margaret Catholic Church, Pembine with Fr. Matt Settle officiating. Jacobs Funeral Home, Niagara Chapel assisted the family with arrangements.
