THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Crivitz Kindergarten Flat Stanley Project
Issue Date: October 30, 2013
Students in Pam Rickmans kindergarten class at Crivitz Elementary School are participating in a project based on the book Flat Stanley by Jeff Brown. In the story, a bulletin board falls off Stanleys bedroom wall while he is sleeping and makes him flat. He has many adventures as a flat boy, some of which involve him being sent through the mail in an envelope.
In keeping with this theme, Rickmans students made their own Flat Stanleys and will be mailing them off to different parts of the world. This is a very exciting and meaningful project for the children, she said.
As Stanley travels from one place to another, families send us pictures, postcards and small trinkets from their hometowns. We mark Stanleys travels on a large map in our room. Its so much fun for the children to be able to actually see where Stanley has been and getting a picture is a bonus!
Last year, Stanley visited Germany, Ireland, Korea, and Turkmenistan and many states in the United States including Alaska and Hawaii.
