THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Ends Career With 101-30 Grid Record
Issue Date: November 13, 2013
After two stints and 12 years as the head football coach of the Peshtigo Bulldogs, Sam Komp announced his retirement. The highly successful and likable Bulldog boss finished with a 101-30 varsity coaching record to go along with six M-O Conference football titles. In the post-season, Komp saw his 1996 and 2001 teams make their way to the WIAA state semifinals.
Its time, the 67-year old Komp said. I coached 33 years in the district and it is time for me to do some other things. I am very confident the program will continue to be successful as we have good coaches on staff.
A 1964 graduate of Marinette Catholic Central, Komp ended his coaching career on a winning note with an 8-2 season record and the 2013 M-O title.
The Peshtigo School Board is expected to act on the retirement at its Wednesday, November 13 meeting.
