Seek Entries for Dec. 7 Marinette Christmas Parade
The Marinette Small Business & Service Groups Association encourages participation in the Annual Downtown Marinette Christmas Parade, on Saturday, Dec. 7th. The Marching Marines from Marinette High School will participate with Pat Mallory, director.
The parade will assemble at noon and proceed from Thomas Street, and down Pierce Avenue to Stephenson Street.
Santa will be the last entry in the parade and will proceed on down to the Stephenson Library to meet and read to the children. Refreshments will be served by the Friends of the Library during his visit. The Marinette Welcome Center, next door to the library, will host an Open House from 1 to 3 pm with chances to win door prizes. There will be live music and refreshments served by members of the Marinette Womans Club.
The Association is looking for floats, walkers, musical participants and others to participate in the parade. There will be competition for the best over-all entry with a cash prize for the winner.
The cost is $15 per entry before Nov. 22, and $30 after. Non-profit groups are free. Entry forms can be picked up at the Chamber of Commerce, Marinette Welcome Center, or Dew Hills Coffee Roosters. For more information call Lori at 715-732-6102.
Following the afternoon festivities, Santa will walk across the Stephenson Island foot bridge to light the City of Marinette Christmas Tree with Mayor Denise Ruleau. Children and adults are invited to walk with him. Carolers are also invited to gather and sing carols during the short ceremony.
