Gary Gallagher, 74, Oconto Falls, passed away Sunday morning, Nov. 24 at a Green Bay hospital with his family present.
Born July 23, 1939 in Oconto Falls to Clifford and Orpha (Poppe) Gallagher, he grew up in Oconto Falls where he attended public schools and graduated from high school in 1957. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served in Alaska and Canada refueling airplanes. On Sept. 18, 1965, he married Victoria Garland in Suring. The couple lived all their married lives in Oconto Falls where he was employed by Oconto Falls Public Schools in their custodial department for over 25 years. He also worked as a courier for the school toward the end of his time with them. A member of Grace Lutheran Church in Oconto Falls, he once served on the church council, ushered and counted contributions for many years.
Survivors are his wife of 48 years, Vicky Gallagher, Oconto Falls; two children, Rev. Kellie (Rev. Stan) Gallagher-Smith, Louisburg, NC. and Michael (Tarra) Gallagher, Green Bay; four grandchildren; his mother-in-law, Dorothy Peterson, Green Bay; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Janet Gallagher, Shawano, Keith (Debbie) Garland, Green Bay, Judy (Bob) McCabe, Denmark and Pat (Paul) Hansen, Two Rivers and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Lowell Gallagher; a brother-in-law, Kerry Garland and a special aunt, Lois Bonke.
Visitation was held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26 at Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls. Visitation will continue after 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27 at Grace Lutheran Church in Oconto Falls until the time of service at 11 a.m., with Pastor Larry Bong officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Oconto Falls.
