Betty R. Hoffman
Betty Rose Hoffman, 92, of Marinette, passed away Nov. 26 surrounded by her family.
Born in Greensburg, Pa. Sept. 23, 1921, to Elizabeth and Michael Rock, she moved at age 7 to Marinette to live with her grandparents, Mary and Joseph Vranik. She attended Columbus School, Stephenson Training School and Marinette High School. A highlight of her high school years was her reign as Prom Queen in 1938. In 1940 she married Herbert Dean Hoffman and while he served in World War II as a Merchant Marine, she worked at Lauermans in the paint and wallpaper department.
After living most of her life on Shore Drive, she spent the last four years at Luther Manor where she made many great friends among staff and residents. She will be rememberwd for her great sense of humor and love of the Green Bay Packers.
She is survived by two daughters, Bonnie (Richard ) Withers, of Milwaukee and Michelle (Mike) Mansfield, of Marinette; a son, Dean Hoffman (Adela Castillo), of Marinette; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret, of Mount Pleasant, Pa. and Mildred Surk, of Menominee; She is also survived by Rainy and Bob Hoffman, Bill Hoffman; many nieces and nephews and a very special friend, Joyce Thompson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert in 2008; a sister, Frances (John) Coppolino; a brother-in-law, Werner Bud Surk; a brother, Carl (Mary) Rock; brother and sister-in law-Jack and Heloise DeGaynor and a sister-in-law, Dolores Hoffman.
The family will receive guests from 1 p.m. until time of formal services at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7 in the chapel at the Luther Home followed by a reception and celebration of life. Memorial donations can be made to Luther Manor or Heartland Hospice. Hansen-Onion-Martell Funeral Home is assisting the family.
