Shirley Mae (Reed) Cook, 78, of Lena passed away Wednesday, Dec. 4 at home.
Born June 17, 1935 in Oconto to the late John B. and Margaret (Pillsbury) Reed, she graduated from Oconto High School in 1954. On May 14, 1955, she married William Bill Cook of Lena at St. Josephs Catholic Church, Oconto. He preceded her in death on Dec. 16, 2012. Together with their children they farmed their whole lives in the Lena area.
She loved her children and grandchildren and cared for them all. An active homemaker, the family enjoyed Grandmas meatballs at special occasions. A member of St. Anne Catholic Parish, Lena, she worked on the Town of Lena Election Board and helped with her childrens activities at school and church.
She is survived by four children, Stanley (Janet) Cook, Sylvester Salvo Cook (special friend Connie), Scott (Janice) Cook and Wendy (Mike) Klaus, all of Lena; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Roger (Linda) Reed, Oconto and David (Charlotte) Reed, Pound; two sisters, Joan (Harlin) Nowak and Cindy Reed, both of Oconto and a sister-in-law, Lucille (Ron) Reinert, Thiensville.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, John W Jack Reed and Dale Reed, Sr.
Friends called at St. Anne Catholic Church, Lena on Saturday, Dec. 7 from 9 a.m. until a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., with Father Celestine Byekwaso officiating. Rhodes-Charapata Funeral Home, Lena assisted the family.
