Arlene A. Hartwig, 86, passed away Dec. 8 at her home on Town Hall Rd., Peshtigo.
Born July 23, 1927 in Marinette to the late Walter and Agnes (Malinowski) Fiss, she graduated from Marinette High School in 1946. She met her future husband, John Hartwig Jr., at the Equity Dance Hall in 1948 and they were married on Aug. 26, 1950 at First Trinity Lutheran Church in Marinette. The couple celebrated 57 years of marriage. He preceded her in death on Jan. 6, 2008. She worked at the Marinette Knitting Mills and the former Boreal Glove Company in Marinette.
She was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in the Town of Grover, Peshtigo.
She is survived by two sons, Brian (Brenda) Hartwig and Rick (Roxanne) Hartwig; four daughters, Diane (Brian Loll) Biehl, Darlene (Bill) Nohr, Donna (Dale) LaFortune, and Ronda (Matt) Lemke, all of the Town of Grover; a sister, Dorothy (Louis) Kamps, of Berlin; a brother, Harold Fiss, of Marinette; a sister-in-law, Shirlee (Ron) Grom, of Peshtigo; a brother-in-law, Donald Polzin, of Peshtigo; 23 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by, a brother, Edward Fiss who died at birth; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Martha (Rhode) and John Hartwig Sr.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lester and Viola Hartwig, Leland and Mabel Polzin, Eve and Ira Behnke, Ruth and Edwin Warnecke and Marilyn Polzin.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, Dec. 11 at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Grover from 9 am until time of services at noon with Pastor Charles Learman officiating. Burial was in Forest Home Cemetery in Marinette. Berth & Rosenthal Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
