Carl H. Johnson
Issue Date: December 12, 2013
Carl H. Johnson, 83, of Marinette passed away Friday, Dec. 6 at Bellin Hospital in Green Bay, following a long illness.
Born July 18th, 1930 in Wellsburg Brooke, WV. to Carl G. and Edith Johnson, the family returned to Marinette while Carl was an infant and he graduated from Marinette High School in 1948. He also graduated from the Milwaukee School of Engineering and enlisted in the Navy in 1951, serving as a Radio Operator on the USS Newport News until being honorably discharged in 1954. On Oct. 17, 1959 he married the former Carole Benoit, of Marinette and they resided in Milwaukee where he was employed as an Electronic Technician at AC Delco. In 1973, they returned to Marinette where he built their home on the bay. He was employed at Marinette Marine until his retirement in 1992.
He was a Packer fan his entire life and collected anything green and gold. He enjoyed the outdoors, golf, and hunting, but what he loved most of all was his wife and family. Their well-being and happiness was his mission in life. An active member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church until health issues kept him home, he loved the bay, fishing, boating, sailing, ice boating and just watching the changing view of the water as the sun rose and set each day.
Survivors include his wife, Carole of Marinette; a sister, Gunnel Arnvist, of Sweden; two sons, David (Bonnie) Johnson, of Appleton and Mark (Shelly) Johnson, of Highland Ranch, Co.; a daughter, Lynne (Paul) Fritz, of Peshtigo and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl G. and Edith Johnson; two brothers, George Johnson and Iver Johnson and a sister, Ruth Johnson.
Private family funeral services were held. Berth & Rosenthal Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
