THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Adam Tilkens, 31, of Appleton, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 3 at St. Vincent Hospital, Green Bay, as the result of a work accident.
Born Dec. 5, 1981 in Green Bay to Annette Schmitz Wilkinson, of Appleton and Bruce Tilkens, of DePere, he was a graduate of Marinette High School. He attended college prior to moving to Grand Chute in 2004 with his high school sweetheart, Sara Peterson. They married on June 1, 2007 in Jamaica. He was employed with Advance Construction of Green Bay.
His biggest passion in life was spending time with his wife, Sara and their two daughters, Ella and Ava. He enjoyed hunting, ice fishing, the outdoors and golf, being a very gifted player. He became very skilled in mechanics and renovations through self teaching and his desire to learn and would help any friend in need.
Survivors include his wife, Sara; two daughters, Ella and Ava; his parents, Annette Schmitz Wilkinson and Bruce (Sue) Tilkens; maternal grandparents, Mae and Eugene Schmitz and paternal grandmother, Geri Tilkens, all of Green Bay; two brothers, Nick Konyn, Green Bay, and Derek Tilkens, DePere; a sister, Kendall Tilkens, DePere; his mother and father-in-law, Muriel and Tom Peterson, Marinette; two sisters-in-law, Sherri (Larry) Peterson and Heather (Hank) Reines, of Marinette; a brother-in-law, Paul Peterson, Stephenson; two godchildren and many close friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Clayton Tilkens.
The family received friends and relatives on Saturday, Dec. 7 from 11 a.m. until a Memorial Service at 1 p.m. at Valley Funeral Home in Appleton. Rev. Darin Aden officiated. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established for his daughters.
