Stephenson Board Approves List of Election Inspectors

The Stephenson Town Board met for a brief 20 minute meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 11 at 7 p.m. Present were Chairman Mike Kudick, Treasurer Mary Jane Kempka, Clerk Elaine Olsen and Supervisors Joe Banaszak, Rick Kikulski, and Jeffrey Lieuwen. Supervisor Kevin Solway was absent. There were also 11 members of the public present.

Following approval of the agenda, the board reviewed the departments and plan commission reports. The fire department reported they held one meeting and received 12 calls and the board discussed proposals for the fire department building at the Crivitz shop. Board members agreed to put together a committee to address this issue and the committee will meet with the fire chief in the near future.

The representative from the Public Works Department discussed winterization procedures that had been completed such as patching town roads, cutting trees near town roads and mounting plows and sand dispersal equipment on their trucks. The department reported they have begun plowing and dispersing sand on town roads as needed.

The Plan Commission plans for three dwellings, one shed and one commercial storage building have been approved. Its next meeting is Jan. 6 at 8 p.m and the commission will have a new development plan by next month. Canine control responded to three calls for the Town and three dogs were picked up.

The board discussed plans for added security in the Town Hall. The board received a price estimate of $6,590 for two additional cameras for the building. The cost will be split among the rescue department, fire department and town. The board approved the motion to purchase the cameras. S & O Locks will visit the building in the near future to give a cost estimate of upgrading the locks.

The board approved a motion to accept the 2014 auditor contract with Schenk Business Solutions. The $3,800 contract exceeds the previous year 's cost by $100, but was included in the 2014 budget.

The board discussed development plans for two pieces of property. The owner of a piece of property located near White Birch Road plans to divide the property into two parcels. This plan was reviewed and accepted by the board. The board also approved a plan by New Life of Crivitz to split a lot of property near Airport Road after establishing that the property would have road access and that there were already utility easements in place.

It was agreed to allow Iron Snow Shoe to use the same town roads as last year with the exception of removal of Parkway Road from County W to approximately FR 1636 and the addition of Left Foot Lake Road from Kuchta Road to County W.

Election inspectors for the 2014 / 2015 election cycle are Judith Cafmeyer, Donna Compton, Carol and Douglas Chudy, Carol Engebos, Monica Getzinger, Nancy Held, Judith Marquardt, Suzanne Ronowski, Colleen and David VandeVoort, Gary and Georgiann VanderVelden, Julie Chilcote, Mary Jane Kempka, Joan Pansier, Carol Rau, Marcie Sedlar, Dan and May Willems, Kathy Ellis, Jennifer Olson, Patricia Stachowiak, Nick Vento, Judith Czerniewski, Janet Piasecki, and Molly Frievalt.

Kudick stated he would like to see a committee formed to get the fire department building in Crivitz moving forward. Lieuwen and Kikulski offered to be on the committee. Kudick asked the fire chief if he would be on the committee with the two Board members and Chief Stradal agreed. They will get together and come up with a plan to bring to the next committee meeting.

Under public comments, Banaszak stated there was a box of used bulbs on the table for anyone to take. They are all good. Clerk Olson thanked Linda Colburn for donating a coffee pot for the hall kitchen. She also thanked Tall Oaks, Corner Convenience, and the Village of Crivitz for posting all the agendas she faxes to them all year. Kudick thanked Twin Bridge Rescue Squad for hosting the Thanksgiving dinner.
