Mary J. Firkell, 98, of Niagara, formerly of Pembine, passed away at Maryhill Manor on Jan. 10.
Born in Milwaukee Jan. 12, 1915, the daughter of Antone and Theresa Wirtz, she married Stephen Firkell on May 14, 1932. He preceded her in death Nov. 14, 1993.
She enjoyed crocheting, playing Pokeno and Bingo with her family and friends and making cookies for church. A long-time member of St. Margaret's Catholic Church, she always kept busy and loved to visit family and friends.
She is survived by a son, Steve (Diane) Firkell, of Pembine; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Theresa Higgins and Josephine Buth and numerous extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen; parents; a son, Fred; a grandson, Mike; three brothers; a sister and a daughter-in-law, Shirley.
Family and friends called from 10 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 15 until the time of a Mass of Christian Burial at noon at St. Margaret's Catholic Church in Pembine with Father Matt Settle officiating. Interment will be in the Pembine Cemetery in Spring. Those who desire may direct memorials to the family. Messar-Roubal Funeral Home of Wausaukee assisted the family with arrangements.
