Norma E. Stuart
Norma Elizabeth Stuart, 91, Green Bay Resident, passed away Monday morning, Jan. 20 at St. Vincent Hospital, Green Bay.
Born April 6, 1922 to John and Mary (Murrach) Schwittay in the Town of Grover, she worked on the family farm as a child. She graduated from Marinette High School in 1938 at the age of 16, one of the youngest to graduate from there. In 1940 she graduated from Marinette County Normal Teachers College. After teaching for two years, she moved to Chicago and worked in various jobs. She met Charles N. Stuart at a church function for single adults and they were married in Chicago on Dec. 21, 1946. They relocated to Green Bay in 1958 and he preceded her in death on Sept. 9, 2003, just 3 months shy of their 55th wedding anniversary. She continued living in Green Bay until her passing.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary (Todd) Carnis and Dorothy Stuart; two sisters, Alice Rouer and Laura Nietupski; a sister-in-law, Delores Schwittay and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband Charles, she was preceded in death by two brothers, James Schwittay and Arthur Schwittay and a sister, Helen Veriha.
Visitation will be at Lyndahl Funeral Home, 1350 Lombardi Avenue, Green Bay on Thursday, Jan. 23 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue on Friday, Jan. 24 from 10 a.m. until time of a funeral service at 11 a.m. at Bethel Baptist Church, 1601 Libal Street, Green Bay.
