Bessie O. Anderson
Bessie O. (May) Anderson, 66, of Menominee, Mi., passed away Thursday, Jan. 23 at home.
Born Nov. 12, 1947 in Lizzy, N.C. to the late Ivy and Joy (Frizzelle) May, she married Donald Anderson in Willmington, N.C. Nov. 19, 1967.
A homemaker and housewife, years ago she also worked for Sprint and Bell Telephone and was a manufacturing rep for new food products at Angeli's. She organized Little League Baseball, was a current district director for Alger Delta Co-op, and past volunteer for the Special Olympics. She enjoyed traveling and was a caregiver to everyone in Cedar River who needed her. She will be remembered for her homemade chocolate candy, her gift of hospitality and her love for her granddaughters. An active member of Cedar River Chapel, she was also a board member.
Survivors include her husband, Don, of Menominee; two sons, George (Jeanette), of Menominee and Lee (Nicole), of Dafter, Mi.; two granddaughters; an aunt, Nina Wiggins, of Trenton, N.C.; a sister-in-law: Karen (Jerry) Petersen, of Cedar River, Mi.; a brother-in-law, Jim (Kathy) Anderson, of Marinette; two nephews and special friends, Betty Gilbert and Judy Plutchak.
She was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Tom Anderson.
Family will receive friends at the Cedar River Chapel on Saturday, Feb. 1 from 1 p.m. until time of Memorial Service at 2 p.m. Pastor Ben Fox will officiate, followed by a luncheon at the Cedarville Township Hall. Burial will be in Cedarville Township Cemetery in the spring. Anderson Diehm Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
