THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Cecelia Whiting, 85, of Oconto, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 11 at the Odd Fellows Nursing Home, Green Bay.
Born Nov. 11, 1928 in Manhattan, N.Y., she married John Whiting on March 28, 1951. He preceded her in death on Jan. 24, 2007.
A member of Holy Trinity Parish and AMVETS Auxiliary, she put a lot of time into the renovation of the Oconto City Park. She is survived by two daughters, Bonnie (Chris) Bitters, Lena and Sandra (Tim) Geyer, Green Bay; two sons, Neil (Sue) Whiting, Juneau and James (Judy) Whiting, Green Bay; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto, from 1:30 p.m. until time of a Memorial Service at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 20. Rev. Patrick Beno will officiate.
