Terry Wayne Smith, 69, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Feb. 13.
Born Sept. 20, 1944 in Asheville, N.C., to Wayne E. and Avonell A. Smith, he graduated from West High School and attended Northern Arizona University. Due to his fathers failing health, the family, with his Uncle Paul, moved to Arizona when he was five years old. He and Lori Sohrweide were married for 28 years.
He was a simple man who cherished a simple life. Together the couple enjoyed the beauty of the earth, writing poetry, reading and learning.
He is survived by his wife, Lori; a sister, Ronda (Larry) ONeill; a sister-in-law, Barbara Smith; five nieces; seven nephews; several great-nieces and nephews; his mother-in-law, Patricia Sohrweide; two brothers-in-law, Michael Sohrweide and Steven (Jenny) Sohrweide.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Stephen Paul Smith and an uncle, Paul A. Smith.
The family will greet relatives and friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, March 3 at Rhodes Charapata Funeral Home, Oconto. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, March 3 at the funeral home with Rev. Fritz Schultz officiating. Donations are appreciated for ASPCA or the Oconto Humane Society.
