Lorraine Helen (Langer) Sorensen, 83, of Iron Mountain, passed away on Friday, Feb. 28, at the Iron County Medical Care Facility in Crystal Falls. She was born on Dec. 8, 1930, in Marinette, daughter of the late Paul and Ethel (Johnson) Langer.
She attended Lady of Lourdes High School, graduating in 1949. After going to college, she married Don Sorensen on Dec. 6, 1952, in Lake Elsinore, Calif., and spent more than 61 years together. She worked as a bookkeeper for many years for both Dickinson County Memorial Hospital, and HCR Manor Care Nursing Home. She was an area resident since 1960.
In her free time she enjoyed golfing, dancing, playing cards, dominos, and traveling. Her true love in life was spending time with her family, visiting, and playing cards.
Survivors include her husband, Don Sorensen of Iron Mountain; children: Greg (Lori) Sorensen of Iron Mountain, Richard Sorensen (Darcy) of Randville, Jeffrey Sorensen of Lady Lake, Fla., Barbara (Robert) Peterson of Stephenson and Jayne (Albin) Sharka of Green Bay; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and sisters, Margaret Christainsen and Paula Englund, both of Menominee.
She was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, March 4, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. Funeral service followed at 7 p.m. at the funeral home with Fr. Raymond Valerio officiating. Burial was in Iron Mountain Cemetery Park.
