Doris M. Hilger, 82, of Menominee, Mi., passed away Thursday, March 13, at the Harbors.
Born July 4, 1931 in Ontonagon, Mi., to the late James and Clarbel (Weisinger) Graham, she attended local schools and graduated in 1949. She then attended St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing in Hancock, Mi., graduating in 1953 as a registered nurse. On Nov. 14, 1953, she married Norman Hilger. After his discharge from the United States Army, they settled in Menominee. He preceded her in death on Feb. 24, 2010.
As her children were growing up, she was active in Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts and 4-H, with her greatest joy in life being her family. She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, Menominee.
Survivors include her children, Sheldon (Lisa) Hilger, Sharon Alder and Stuart (Denise) Hilger; five grandchildren; a great-grandson; a sister-in-law, Roberta Hilger and her neighbors, Sarah and Paul Dahl, Tom Noon, Carol Pomrenke and Butch Jones.
She was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Hilger and a daughter, Sandra Morrish.
Private services were held and burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Menominee next to her husband. Anderson Kell Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
