Voters To Decide Races In Towns, Cities, Schools

Voters will go to the polls on Tuesday, April 1, to decide various races for elected positions on Town Boards, Village Boards, City Councils and School Boards.

Incumbent David G. Miron is the only candidate for Marinette County Circuit Judge-Branch I.

The Towns of Dunbar and Niagara will have referendums.

Town of Dunbar electors will vote yes or no if the person holding the office of Town Clerk/Treasurer should be appointed by the Town Board.

The referendum for Town of Niagara electors is also a yes or no vote on whether the person holding the office of Town Treasurer be appointed by the Town Board.

One race developed in the Town of Peshtigo for the Supervisor 4 position.

In the Village of Crivitz a new trustee will be elected when the incumbent did not seek re-election.

The Cities of Marinette and Peshtigo will have contested races for city officials. In Marinette two candidates seek the Ward 7 Aldermanic seat as the incumbent did not seek re-election.

In the City of Peshtigo a race developed as two candidates filed for the office of mayor as the incumbent did not seek re-election.

The races for a school board seat developed in the Niagara School District and Crivitz School District where three candidates filed in each district seeking the two seats up for election.

A listing of candidates for the various offices and contested races follows:

TOWNS:

In town elections only Town Boards with four members were up for election. They were:

Brazeau: No contested races as the two incumbent supervisors are the only candidates. They are David Parmentier and Rodney Gretzon.

Peshtigo: There is a contested race for Supervisor 4 on the Town Board which had been vacant. Seeking the post are Daniel Van Beek and Bryan Peth. They will face off in the Tuesday election with the top vote getter elected. Having no opposition for re-election as Supervisor 3 is Denise Wiedemeier.

Pound: Only the two incumbent supervisors filedare candidates for re-election. They are Supervisors Dave Pellman and Mike Zeitler.

Stephenson: The two incumbents were the only candidates to file. For Seat 2 is Jeffrey Lieuwen and for Seat 4 Kevin Solway.

Wausaukee: Both incumbents are unopposed and are the only candidates. They are Kurt Stumbris, Supervisor 3 and Dennis Taylor, Supervisor 4.

VILLAGES:

Coleman: Incumbents were the only candidates to file for re-election for the three trustee posts. Having no opposition are Jeff Gosa Sr., Wayne Smet and Jesse Parker.

Crivitz: There will be one new trustee on the Village Board as the incumbent Janis Porfilio did not seek re-election and filed non-candidacy papers. Filling for the post was Ben Kamps. Having no opposition for re-election are Trustees Duane Swanson and Shirley Keller.

Pound: A write-in candidate could be elected as a trustee as the incumbent Wayne Gross filed non-candidacy and did not seek re-election. Having no opposition for the other trustee post is incumbent Mary Meyer

Wausaukee: There are no contested races for the three trustee posts up for re-election. Seeking re-election are incumbent Jason Figas, Rosie Figas and Bradley Taylor.

CITIES:

Peshtigo: A race for mayor has developed as two candidates filed for the position as Mayor Al Krizenesky did not seek re-election. Seeking the post are Third District Alderperson Cathi Malke and newcomer Mark Konrad.

Malke did not seek re-election to another term as Third District Alderperson. Filing for the post is Mary Lock who previously served on the council.

Filing for the First Aldermanic District is David Marquardt, former city parks and recreation director. The incumbent Tim Colburn did not seek re-election.

Second Aldermanic District Thomas Gryzwa is unopposed for re-election.

Marinette: A contested race developed for the Ward 7 Aldermanic post as the incumbent Carol Kempka did not seek re-election and filed non-candidacy papers. Seeking the post are Pamela Goes and Jeffrey Mayou.

Having no opposition for re-election are John Marx for Alderperson 3 and Martha Karban for Alderperson 8.

Carl D. Mercier is unopposed for re-election as Municipal Judge.

Niagara: There are no contested races for the three aldermanic posts up for election as the incumbents were the only candidates to file for re-election. They are Larry Kuchinski, Gerald Kallenbach and Donald Shampo.

SCHOOL BOARDS:

Beecher-Dunbar-Pembine: Incumbents were the only candidates to file for the two seats up for election. They are Tammy Decker, representing the Town of Dunbar, and Brian Parr, Number 2 member at large.

Coleman: Three candidates are on the ballot for the two seats up for election. Candidates are Joanne Nowak and Roger Heisel, incumbents, along with Barbara Krause-Klug, a former employee of the Coleman School District.

Crivitz: Two incumbents and a challenger seek the two seats up for election. They are Lyle Cherry and Michael Dama, incumbents, and Todd Klemme. The two top vote getters on April 1 will be seated on the board.

Goodman-Armstrong Creek: There are no races for the two seats up for election. The incumbents Laura Klescewski and David Ziolkowski are the only candidates.

Lena: Incumbent Lori Dufek has no opposition for re-election to a three year term.

Marinette: Three incumbents filed for re-election and have no opposition. They are all for city residents seats held by Lee Kuntz, John LaCourt and William Milz.

Niagara: Three candidates filed for the two positions on the Niagara School Board. They are incumbents Tracy Coppens and Donald Schroeder who face a challenge from Susan Moll. The top two vote getters on April 1 will be elected to three year terms.

Peshtigo: There are no contested races for the three seats up for election as the incumbents were the only candidates to file. They are Gary Larsen, Seat 1; Mike Fifarek, Seat 5 and Vern Rohde, Seat 6. Terms are for three years.

Suring: Candidates for the Suring School Board are Eugene School Jr. and Erika Olson Schindel for the Towns of Bagley, Maple Valley, and Spruce. Candidate for the Towns of Doty, Mountain, and Riverview area is incumbent Cathleen Lundgren and incumbent Mark Strehlow filed for the Town of How seat. Electors from the entire school district are eligible to vote for the candidates.

Wausaukee: There are no races as the two incumbents are the only two candidates to file for re-election to the two seats up for election. They are Kenneth Jones and Dave Kipp.
