THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Ronald L. Nicklaus
Ronald L. Nicklaus, 66, of Marinette, passed away unexpectedly Monday, April 14 at his home.
Born Nov. 9, 1947 in Marinette, to Walter and Esther (Krutz) Nicklaus, he attended Trinity Lutheran School and graduated from Marinette High School and UW-Marinette. He met his wife, Linda, at the family cabin where he loved to fish, hunt and visit neighbors and they were married Oct. 4, 1969. He retired from Wisconsin Public Service Corp. after 37 years of employment.
He enjoyed playing golf, woodworking, music and believed attention to detail in his work, lawncare, window washing and other chores led to an orderly life. Not liking to travel, he did spend time on a houseboat on the Wolf River, visited South Dakota and Copper Harbor with friends, of which was the highlight of his life. He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Marinette.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Linda; two daughters, Laurie Groleau of Menominee and Amy Gallardo of Marinette; a brother, Michael (Patti) Nicklaus and a sister, Phyllis (Dave) Makowski, all of Menominee and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call at Hansen Onion Martell Funeral Home in Marinette from noon until time of a funeral service at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 17. Rev. Jon Tesch and Rev. Frederick Mueller will officiate with Interment in Forest Home Cemetery.
