Thesa V. Decker, 89, formerly of Menominee, passed away in Alabama on Thursday, May 1.
Born Feb. 11, 1925, to James and Anne (Rose) Pemberton in Bon Jellico, Ky., she graduated from Woodvine High School in 1942. She moved to Detroit and worked in a defense plant during World War II and married Gerald Papineau, Sr. in 1943; He was in the Army and fought in the European Theater during World War II. They were married for 17 years and had six children when he drowned in the ocean in St. Augustine, Fla. in the 60s. In 1963, she married Sylvester Bob Decker who had five children. They resided in Lower Michigan until 1976 when they moved to Menominee and both worked at Vernco/Emerson. He passed away in 1984 and she continued working at Emerson, retiring in 2000 at the age of 75.
She is survived by three children, Gerald Papineau Jr., Colleen Papineau and Renee Osborne; four step-children, Donna Connaher, Theodore (Sharon) Decker, Darrell (Nada) Decker and Shelly Rusetzke; a step-daughter-in-law, Julie Decker; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Gerald and Bob; two sons, Gregory and Michael; a daughter, Yvonne and a step-son, Dennis.
Private Burial will be in Birch Creek Cemetery. Thielen Funeral Home is assisting the family.
