Kenneth Paul Benson, 96, of Powers, Mi. passed away Tuesday, May 27 at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility there.
Born Feb. 28, 1918 in Nadeau, Mi., to Andrew G. and Hannah (Christensen) Benson, he served in the United States Army during World War II. On Aug. 30, 1953, he married the former Olive LeBeau and she preceded him in death on Feb. 11, 2006. He owned and operated a dairy farm for many years and enjoyed showing dairy cattle at the U.P. State Fair. He was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church, the VFW and the Powers Spalding Lions Club.
Survivors include a daughter, Tammy (David) Rupp, of Canton, Mi.; a son, Charles (Brenda) Benson, of Powers, Mi.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four sisters, Eunice Ellenberger, Harriet Boruch, Lucille Moore, and Verna Perras; four brothers, Maurice, Richard, Andrew and Vernon Benson.
He was preceded in death by a son, Lawrence; a sister, Evelyn Sheski and two brothers, Lloyd and Gerald.
Family and friends may call at St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Spalding on Friday, May 30 at 11 a.m. until time of a Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m. CST. Fr. Emmett Norden will officiate with burial in Nadeau Township Cemetery and Military Honors at 3:30 p.m. Anderson Diehm Funeral Home, Stephenson is assisting the family with arrangements.
