Michael A. Konkel
Michael Anthony Konkel, 57, of Oconto, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, May 22.
Born Nov. 15, 1956 in Milwaukee, to Rosemary Konkel, he was the oldest of six children and helped raise his three brothers and two sisters. He served in the United States Marine Corps after high school and was honorably discharged in 1980.
After service, he helped raise his three children Shelly, Mindy and Kevin and had a special love for his Siberian husky dogs, Kenny, Cota and Dotti. He spent his days with them from morning to night, and they were with him when he passed away. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and the great outdoors.
He is survived by his mother, Rosemary Porath, Oconto; two daughters, Shelly Konkel and Mindy Konkel, Milwaukee; a son, Kevin Konkel, Milwaukee; maternal grandmother, Lorraine Konkel, Oconto; two sisters, Sandy (Ricky) Rivas and Deborah (Mark) Strzelecki, Milwaukee; three brothers, David (Colleen) Mueller, Curt Porath and Mark (Rachel) Porath, all of Oconto; grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Porath.
The family received relatives and friends at Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto from 9 a.m. until time of Memorial Services at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 27. Rev. Mary Zupansic officiated with Military Rites by the Oconto American Legion Post #74.
